Automatic Electric Guns or AEGs

High-powered airsoft electric guns shoot are the primary weapon of choice for most airsoft players. They shoot at about 300-450 FPS (feet per second), and deliver great power for those who are in need of such a weapon, whether for backyard shootouts, airsoft games, realistic target practice, tactical training, airsoft competitions, or mil-sim exercises. Most high-performance airsoft AEGs come standard with full metal gearboxes, full metal gears, and precision-crafted metal barrels for power and accuracy that is unmatched by other cheaper models of airsoft. Most of these are heavily weighted to accurately resemble their real counterparts, ounce for ounce.

AEGs are the most popular segment in airsoft.  They feature an electric motor attached to a gearbox that reciprocates a spring loaded air piston that forces BBs out of the barrel at semi or fully automatic rates.  Their popularity stems for the very reliable and easy to use operation.  With today's battery technology, extended use is possible with quality guns and Ni-Mh (Nickel Metal Hydride) battery technologies.

Quality ranges from very poor in this segment to the highest levels where you can spend thousands on a stock rifle (Systema Custom Rifles).  Because of the complex nature of these models, we do not recommend low level clones for AEGs.  It is more advised to invest in a quality gun up front so that you don't end up having to foot a repair bill or worse yet having to replace your full airsoft rifle due to breakage, poor quality or incompatibility with desired upgrades.

Most airsoft AEGs are highly customizable.  Many after-market parts are available to not only increase reliability, but also to increase shooting accuracy, power and efficiency.  Talk to a local professional airsoft smith to put together an upgrade plan so that you are buying and installing the right parts for what your end goals are.
